The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) on Wednesday hosted the Minister of Industrialization, Business, Trade and Tourism at its Blantyre offices for a strategic briefing session.
The purpose of the engagement was to present the state of the business environment and propose priority actions where MCCCI and Government can collaborate to accelerate industrialization, strengthen trade competitiveness, enhance exports in line with Malawi Vision 2063.
The Chamber plays a critical role in policy advocacy, public–private dialogue, and private sector development, acting as a bridge between Government and business.
MCCCI led by Chief Executive Officer Daisy Kambalame reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national efforts to grow the economy and expand export capacity.
It highlighted its transformational agenda, with emphasis on fostering anti‑fragile productive systems that not only withstand prevailing shocks but also thrive in such conditions. This agenda is according to Kambalame is being advanced through initiatives such as building strong domestic and international value chains, facilitated by trade promotion events.
MCCCI also underscored its active championing of domestic production, lobbying for favorable incentives, and advocating for accommodative regulatory frameworks. These efforts are meant to strengthen the competitiveness of local enterprises, enhance resilience, and position the private sector as a key driver of sustainable economic growth.
On his part, the Minister expressed readiness to work closely with MCCCI, encouraging businesses to join the Chamber to speak with one credible, unified voice and underscored the importance of public–private collaboration and ensuring that the private sector thrive.
The two parties committed to mapping investor priorities, sharing MoUs and treaties for wider business benefit, and ensuring that the environment allows enterprises to thrive.
