The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry wishes to inform exhibitors, patrons and the general public that the 31st Malawi International Trade Fair (MITF) which was scheduled to be held from 20 - 30 June 2019 under the theme “Achieving Competitiveness through Integration into Regional Value Chains” has been postponed to 6 – 15 August, 2019. The venue and theme for the event remain the same.
Being an International Trade Fair, participation of international exhibitors is key at the MITF. Mobilization of participants, both foreign and domestic, commenced way back in January this year. We received positive feedback as evidenced in the confirmations from the following countries: Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and China. However, participants from all these countries except Zimbabwe have withdrawn their participation, citing existence of political uncertainty and tension in the country as reasons for their withdrawal.
In view of these developments, we have taken the decision to postpone holding of this event to 6 -15 August this year by which time we hope the clouds will have cleared.
